What is an eyeliner tattoo?

Eyeliner Tattoo is a type of permanent makeup procedure that places pigment along the top and/or bottom eyelashes to define the eyes and gives an illusion of thicker, darker and fuller lashes.

Similar to any other tattoo, eyeliner pigment is injected with a tattoo needle into the skin of the eyelid.

LASH LINE ENHANCEMENT

A thin and delicate line placed along the eyelashes that defines the eyes without the look of makeup.

Does not include a winged tail and is thinner than eyeliner tattoo.

SOLID DESIGN EYELINER

A solid line that is thicker and bolder with a winged tail. The wing is either straight or at an upward/downward angle depending on the client's preference.

What would the healing process be like?

As with any other permanent makeup procedures, you will experience mild scabbing and some swelling during the healing process.

Day 1-3

Eyes feel sore and heavy. Redness of the eye can also occur.

Swelling occurs up to 3 days after the procedure, especially in the morning.

The eyeliner will start to form scabs and the may look dark and thick.

Day 4-5

Swelling should be reduced and eyes begin to feel normal.

Flaking and crusting of the eyeliner may occur.

The skin around the eyes may feel dry and itchy.

Scabs peel off in random pieces and look patchy.

The areas without the scabs may look lighter in colour.

Day 6-14

Scabs continue to peel off and some scabs are either hanging or dried our on the lashes.

70-100% of scabs should fall off during this time.

Colour looks very light and the shape may look thinner.

Some areas may have lost more colour compared to other areas.

Day 14-28

Colour gradually darkens as the skin is completely healed.

Post-Care Instructions

Splash your eyes with water and wash off any pigment residue immediately after the procedure. Pat dry gently with a clean tissue.

Wash the skin aroundthe eyes twice a day (morning & night) using a gentle, unscented soap (Cetaphil or baby shampoo). Use your fingertips to cleanse tently and pat dry with a clean tissue.

Apply ointment 2-3 times a day for up to 7 days for thick eyeliner (OMIT FOR LASH ENHANCEMENT)

Scabs will take about 7-10 days to peel off. Do not pick at the scabs or peel them off prematurely.

Swelling and redness are normal for the first few days.

Slight stinging sensation in the first few days is also normal.

The colour will fade approximately 30-50% lighter when the scabs fall off. This is completely normal. Do not feel discouraged if the fading is more than you expected.

To achieve the perfect eyeliner, we need to see how your skin accepts the initial application and a touch-up appointment is where we will perfect the shape and colour.

No eye makeup is allowed until the scabs completely fall off.

Avoid sweaty exercises such as hot saunas, hot yoga, and swimming for 10-14 days, or until the scabbing has come off.

Scabbing

The eyeliner will start to form scabs and they might look dark and thick. As the skin heals, the scabs will fall off in random pieces and might look patchy.

Flaking and crusting on the tattoo area may occur.

Avoid pulling off the scabs that are dried on the lashes.

When you try to pull off the scabs that are hanging on your lashes, ensure the scabs are soft enough to slide off from the lashes. Use a mascara brush to help remove the scabs

Swelling

Swelling occurs up to 3 days after the procedure, especially in the morning.

Exercising the eyes can help reduce swelling and puffiness. Try blinking actively for 2 minutes in the morning.

To relieve swelling, you can ice the area with soft gel ice packs.

Touch-up

The first touch-up session should be completed after 5-8 weeks from the initial appointment.

After the first touch-up is done, eyeliner tattoos typically last between 1-5 years. However, the colour retention caries according to individual skin type (thicker skin fades faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), and age.

The fading process is extremely gradual for eyeliner tattoo and normally a touch-up is recommended every 2-3 years.
